Dehradun: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said the nature of conflict had changed sharply and nations could now be weakened not only through conventional war but also through economic, cyber, space and information warfare, reports Kautilya Singh.Virtually addressing the Raising Day celebrations and Diamond Jubilee of Sainik School, Ghorakhal, he said, “Present-day warfare transcends borders, with national security encompassing economic, digital, energy and food security.”He said the changing nature of threats required not only a strong military but also alert and prepared citizens. Singh said every citizen had to remain vigilant and ready at all times. He stressed the need for a robust military backed by people capable of standing shoulder to shoulder to defend the country under any circumstances.Singh said govt was leaving no stone unturned to equip the armed forces with advanced weapons and technologies and added that citizens, especially the youth, needed to build mental toughness and intellectual clarity through discipline and determination. He said these qualities would help the country respond to any challenge.Calling admission of girls to Sainik Schools a historic decision, Singh said, “These girls will become the torchbearers of Nari Shakti.”
