Patna: A couple in their early 30s died in a road accident on Tuesday night while their 11-year-old daughter received serious injuries near Cheta Bigha village under Nemdarganj police station in Nawada district, when the family was returning from a family function.The deceased, who have been identified as Pankaj Kumar (35) and wife Sushma Devi (31), were the residents of Teli Tola in the Nemdarganj police station area. Both were returning from the birthday celebration of a relative in Cheta Bigha village with their daughter Pari Kumari.Nemdarganj SHO Ranjeet Kumar said, “They were on a bike. While returning from the function, an unknown vehicle hit their bike from behind, leading to the fall of the victims on the road. Pankaj and Sushma received severe head injuries, leading to their deaths on the spot. Pari was rushed to the Sadar hospital from where she was taken to a private hospital by her family members.”“The vehicle fled the scene after hitting the bike. CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity are being scanned to identify the vehicle. Further investigation is on,” the SHO said.
