M C Shunmugaiah (also spelled Shanmugayyaa or Shunmugaiah C) from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) remains the MLA as of March 2026, with no reported by-elections or changes since 2021. He won the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly election with 73,110 votes (41.11% vote share), defeating P. Mohan of AIADMK (64,600 votes) by a margin of 8,510 votes.
