KN Nehru of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the Tiruchirappalli (West) constituency with a margin of 4,786 votes. He garnered 88,235 votes, while Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate G Ramamoorthi came second with 83449 votes.Tiruchirappalli (West) Assembly constituency, located entirely within the urban areas of Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu, forms part of the Tiruchirappalli Lok Sabha constituency. According to the 2011 Census estimates, the constituency is fully urban, with 100 per cent of its population classified as urban. Scheduled Castes account for 10.51 per cent and Scheduled Tribes for 0.17 per cent.For the 2026 elections, the participating candidates are K. N. Nehru (DMK), M. Rajasekharan (AMMK), K. Bhuvaneswari (NTK), Karthikeyan Sundaramoorthy (Independent), and G. Ramamoorthy (TVK).In the most recent Assembly election of 2021, K. N. Nehru of the DMK won the seat with 118,133 votes, representing 64.52 per cent of the vote share. He defeated AIADMK candidate V. Padmanathan, who received 33,024 votes, by a margin of 85,109 votes.Historically, K. N. Nehru has been a dominant figure here, winning successive elections in 2016 and 2021. The constituency also saw a by-election in 2011, won by AIADMK’s M. Paranjothi.The constituency is currently represented in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly by K. N. Nehru, while the Tiruchirappalli Lok Sabha seat is represented in Parliament by Durai Vaiko of the MDMK.
