Inter-state drug syndicate busted, 35g meth seized near Auroville, 6 held

Villupuram: The Auroville police have busted a drug syndicate, seizing 35g of methamphetamine valued at about ₹1 lakh and arresting six people in connection with the racket, which stretches across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karnataka.A team from Auroville police station, acting on a tip-off regarding illicit drug consumption near Kuyilappalayam, raided a guesthouse, seized 10g of methamphetamine and arrested five people in the guesthouse. On inquiries, they revealed that they received the contraband from a man identified as Kannan from the Tiruvannamalai district. Police traced the man, arrested him, and seized 25g of methamphetamine from his possession.Further interrogation exposed an international link operating out of neighbouring Karnataka. Kannan revealed that he had established contact with a Nigerian national residing in Bengaluru via WhatsApp. He confessed to purchasing the entire bulk consignment of methamphetamine directly from the Nigerian last month.
