Silchar: Cachar police on Sunday arrested another fake doctor, taking the total number of quacks held in the district to 13. The accused, identified as Bipul Chandra Nath, was nabbed during a raid at Healthy Unique Life Clinic in Silchar’s Ambicapatty area.Police said Nath, a Class 10 pass-out, was practising under the name Dr BC Nath without any legitimate medical degree. Several forged certificates, including those allegedly to be from Council for Advancement of Medicine in Alternative Process and the Indian Rural Medical Association, were seized from his chamber.SP (Cachar) Numal Mahatta said the ongoing crackdown on fake doctors will continue. “Nath was posing as an MBBS doctor without any valid qualification. We have so far caught 13 such quacks in the district,” he said. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and investigation is underway.
