There is one hobby that keeps the couple together, bonded in interest and execution.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump make for a very intriguing first couple of the United States. The world-famous duo holds hands while posing in the White House and hosts some of the most grand and prestigious events in the world. But, if reports are to be believed, the President, 79 and first lady, 55, rarely indulge in private time beyond the formal expectations of their roles. Yet, there is one hobby that keeps the couple together, bonded in interest and execution. What is it?

Donald Trump and Melania’s favourite hobby

In a recent conversation with People, a source revealed that the couple shares a love for interior design. “Donald has his own vision for his homes and clubs, and over the years has designed and selected a lot of the furnishings and finishings himself at Mar-a-Lago and the golf clubs,” the insider explained. “He and Melania have that in common. They both love interior design,” they added. Otherwise, the couple does not spend much time together, beyond their joint public appearances. “There is little interaction between them, just what is expected,” the source says. ”Then they go back to doing their own thing.”

Donald Trump’s love for interior design

Well, Trump’s knack for interior design is pretty obvious considering the overwhelming plans he had executed within the White House. One of his most prestigious projects was the new White House ballroom, a $400 million, 90,000 square-foot project. Additionally, it is well-known information that before descending into politics, the President was a successful real estate developer. At the Kennedy Center Honorees’ speech in December 2025, he said he had “two jobs.” “I have a construction job, which is really like relaxation for me because I have been doing it all my life,” he claimed.

Melania’s shocking interest in design and creation

As for Melania, she launched her own brand of costume jewellery with multichannel retailer QVC back in 2010. Called ‘Melania Timepieces & Jewelry’ it aimed to bring her “personal inspiration and design aesthetic to life.”“My passion in design and fashion leads me to [jewellery design],” said the former Slovenian model. As per Hola!, she also studied architecture and design at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. “I studied architecture and design, and it’s always in me to design, to sketch, to bring ideas to life, and that’s what I did with my jewellery line,” she said in a 2012 interview with Jetset Magazine. While her jewellery business has since closed, her architectural background coupled with her husband’s knack for real-estate development, poses a great bonding time and topic for the first couple.
