(The story of an unannounced guest—sequel)
The universe has trillions of galaxies, stars, planets and our home—the Earth. Speaking of which—there are billions of people here, but we cross paths with only a handful of them.
We say, whoever comes into our lives has been orchestrated by the
divine, the karma.… and all that.
So, is it just restricted to the people we meet? What about the flowers we pluck? The furry pets we keep? And the birds that peck our feed?
How many times you expect someone to come from the sky, to
especially meet you—not just once, but almost everyday! Incredible, isn’t it?
April 2021, I had a visitor from the open sky—a Parrot. I was overwhelmed to see the ‘green delight’.

From all the countless fliers circling above, there was ‘one’ who wanted to spend hours and bond with me—balcony meets you see!
There were times when I craved to grab him by his wings and never let him fly back to the boundless heavens—my human instincts. But how could I do that to someone who trusted me?
His free will to keep coming back showered nature’s unconditional love over me. This little feathery one was special, hopefully, I also had a tiny place in his big heart!
My sheer surprise was the day he started looping ‘Mitthu’—while resting on the parapet.
Is this someone speaking nearby or is it my uncuffed parrot? I
wondered.
I crept quietly toward the balcony, taming the noise of my footsteps.
Yes, it was his sugary voice—Mitthu….. Mitthuuu. The unfiltered and innocent voice. This is how he told me his name. I grew more fond of him after hearing his mimic.
Our rendezvous were heartwarming, until March 2024, and then my
worst fear came true. My Mitthu abruptly disappeared from the sky.
Blank and stoic—I waited for days, months and now almost two years, but there is no trace of him.
Everyday the sky hosts a masquerade of birds dancing joyfully, but
without those green feathers, it feels like a hollow celebration.
Worried—I longingly called out his name from my balcony, hoping he would return fluttering his wings—but he didn’t.
I’m sure he is still flying somewhere like an angel, looking for people in need of his selfless-love.
Until we meet again my bird—care and warmth!
