When West Asia goes on a boil, the Israel Palestine conflict and “ warring” becomes the order of the day as one can trace out the exchange of missiles and dreaded drone attacks to the twin arch antagonists of the order of Israel and the non state actors which surround Tel Aviv to surmount the Jew nation. As missiles rain on cities, civic and military locations, the threesome nations of the order of Israel, United States of America and Iran slug it out though in the larger context of heavy “collateral damage”. We would be doing a disservice to the academic narrative of IR if only the regional ramifications of Operation Epic Fury are highlighted and brought at the helm of international affairs, its study as conflicts ebb and flow with their crests and troughs. 

No one can contest the opinion that West Asia has always been a strategically significant and crucial region to hold on to in all historical confrontations, wars and geo political equations of all recorded epochs. Water wars might too ensue in the conflict with Iran as the Tehran Caliphate has warned the region that its arsenal might militate against the water desalination installations and water generates in the region. India is too feeling the Oil heat as the conflict crosses one threshold after another. The similar balancing can be perceived and commented upon as a deft foreign policy and Diplomacy act due to which what is left of the Regime in Tehran, permitted the passage of neutral nation’s ships through it’s maritime space. Thus, New Delhi managed a kind of coup de Etat as it had managed the seamless ouster and transport of the Indian students from the Ukrainian cities of Kyiv and Mariupol. Hormuz strait is very strategically located as it connects the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman which finally meanders and broadens into the Arabian sea. Come the Pirates of the Caribbean or not!    

India is dependent by a quantum of 90% upon the West Asian sources of energy, oil and natural gas including the crucial homestead supply of LNG, PNG and LNG thus any disruption of the oil supplies would have rendered the Indian population bereft of the all essential commodity stunting the supply of Energy instruments and leading to consequential inflation thus endangering the energy ecosystem of the nation. Still, New Delhi spawned the PPAC (The population Planning and Analysis Committee) arching across to the PSU’s, Government sector energy giants and other engaged corporates in order to sustain the nation’s supply of energy as far as the refining, transport, storage, awareness of the energy ecosystem is concerned.

Also, as an attendant fact, it can be brought forth that the Indian Government promptly took recourse to the Special commodities Act which was promulgated in 1955 and was amended in 2020 which permitted the Regime to intervene in the food, medicine and fertilizer market in the sense of a commodity easing out.
