Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji has reportedly stepped back from helming the highly anticipated project ‘Dhoom 4’. News broke a day after word spead that the director has picked up work on his ambitious ‘Astraverse’ and resumed scripting ‘Brashmastra: Part 2’.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the ‘Brahmastra’ director has chosen to part ways with the film owing to creative differences. The report states that his creative vision did not align with the direction the project was taking and over contrasting views of the script and execution.

Reason for the exit

The filmmaker, known for his strong emotional storytelling, was reportedly only involved in executing a script written by Shridhar Raghavan. “He didn’t have much say in the screenplay and didn’t want to be on another journey of just execution,” the report quoted a source.Despite the sudden exit, their decision to part ways was ‘amicable’, with both Aditya Chopra and leading man Ranbir Kapoor.

Shifting focus to Brahmasra Part 2

As per the latest reports, Mukerji is set to shift focus on the sequel of ‘Brahmastra’. The film that was originally slated to release this year, is now expected to go on floors in 2026. The director, who is currently enjoying some down time in the mountains, is said to be adding some final touches to the script.

About Dhoom 4

Meanwhile, ‘Dhoom 4’ will reportedly continue under YRF’s banner, with the studio likely to bring in an in-house director to helm the project. While some reports state that Ranbir already has his dates blocked for the shoot, other reports suggest a new actor coming on board for the film that begins production in 2026.
