18-year-old ends life after failing to clear NDA exam

Nagpur: An 18-year-old youth from the Beltarodi area allegedly ended life after securing low marks in the National Defence Academy (NDA) examination. His body was found hanging at his residence at Chhinchbhuvan on Saturday.The deceased was identified as Sujan Bajare, whose dream to train at the NDA was shattered when the results were declared in May this year. Cops said that Sujan shifted to Kolhapur for NDA preparations and returned to Nagpur around a month ago.A complaint filed by the deceased’s relative, Siddhesh Mirase, 24, stated that Sujan was upset over his poor performance in the NDA exam. Family members noticed Sujan hanging in the bathroom and immediately shifted him to AIIMS, where the doctors declared him dead. Sujan’s mother is a nurse, the police said.Beltarodi police have registered a case of accidental death. The incident has left the family in shock and grief. “We have found no suicide note. Some pages of the diary have been found with motivational notes,” said senior inspector Ritesh Aher of Beltarodi police station. He added that Sujan’s mobile phone would be examined.Police said the victim’s relatives mentioned that he was under stress after failing to clear the NDA examination. He isolated himself for the last few days, family members said.
