Chatra: A five-year-old boy was killed after a speeding motorcycle hit him at Changer village in Chatra district on Monday evening, police said. The deceased was identified as Satyam Kumar, son of Arun Ram.Police said the motorcycle, on which three youths were travelling, was headed towards Pathalgada when it hit the child, who was standing by the roadside. Satyam suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.Ramji Mochi, a relative of the child, said two motorcycles sped past in quick succession. One biker first brushed past Satyam and fled. Immediately after, another speeding motorcycle rammed into him, throwing him several feet away. He lost consciousness.Villagers caught the rider and a pillion passenger, while the third escaped. A Sadar police team reached the village, took the two youths into custody and seized the damaged motorcycle.Sadar police station officer-in charge Awadhesh Singh said the post-mortem examination will be conducted on Wednesday. Locals demanded immediate compensation for the family of the deceased and assistance from the district administration.
