Vinesh Phogat to appeal Brij Bhushan acquittal, alleges system protected him
Vinesh Phogat said the women wrestlers would appeal against the acquittal of former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, alleging that the government and state machinery protected him throughout the case. Tamil Nadu moves SC over Cauvery water release, seeks larger share
Tamil Nadu has moved the Supreme Court, alleging Karnataka released less Cauvery water than its entitlement despite sufficient reservoir levels. The state challenged the CWRC allocation and sought directions for timely release. The petition was filed on chief minister Vijay’s instructions amid renewed tensions over water sharing during the monsoon.

FSSAI cracks down on liquor brands over misleading labels, flavour claims
FSSAI launched enforcement action against several liquor manufacturers, including makers of Old Monk, McDowell’s and Bagpiper, alleging misleading labelling, age claims and non-permitted flavouring practices. The regulator said some products were wrongly marketed as standard rum or whisky despite being made largely from neutral spirit, and prohibited the sale of specific variants. Read full story
