CJP’s agitation was barely televised. Television news did not give much footage to protests gathering steam at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and other parts of the country, until it became impossible to ignore. Even then, the pulse of student anger against govt was barely covered, and many focused more on how to discredit the movement.

The non-televised revolution was, however, Instagrammed. It played out in multiple reels and videos on Instagram feeds. Those who earlier expressed disdain for Gen Z’s constant reel scrolling and short attention spans found themselves visiting Insta more often to access images and videos of the protests, police violence, witty posters and slogans.
