In the 19th century, Shiraz, Iran, a 25-year-old youth took the title ‘The Báb’, meaning ‘The Gate’. He announced that he was the prophet-herald of a new era, sent to pave the way for a global spiritual revolution.
Though his ministry lasted a brief six years, the Báb attracted thousands of followers across West Asia. Crucially, he foretold that his teachings were the prelude to an even greater divine revelation, which soon arrived through Bahá’u’lláh, founder of the Bahá’í Faith.

We live in an era torn between two opposing currents: a painful process of global disintegration, and a quiet, powerful movement towards integration. Looking at the chaos of the modern world, Bahá’u’lláh once asked a series of poignant questions that still echo: “How long will humanity persist in its waywardness? How long will injustice continue? How long are chaos and confusion to reign among men? How long will discord continue? He assured that the spiritual impetus, through the fresh outpouring of divine guidance, would provide enlightenment amid global turbulence.
While nation-states repeatedly struggle to solve interlocking crises threatening our civilisation, Bahá’ís see a silver lining. The Báb’s message provides adirect roadmap for societal evolution, famously calling on humanity to unite as ‘brethren in one and indivisible religion.’ The ultimate destination of this journey is the birth of a new World Order built on global cooperation.
To avert looming global catastrophes, the Bahá’í community actively champions apath that harmonises two major forces: religion, dharm and science. Bahá’i Faith provides the bridge between reason and faith for global welfare.
Science provides the technological tools to solve material problems that seemed insurmountable a century ago. Religion provides the moral and ethical framework, ensuring those tools are used with tolerance, justice, and sustainability.
At grassroots level, this looks like communities committing to essential, foundational truths required for a healthy society: (i) absolute equality (ii) equitable sharing of our planet’s finite resources; (iii) eradication of all prejudices (iv) ethical governance rooted in collaboration, continuous learning, and grassroots action.
The fundamental purpose of life is to know our creator and to collectively advance human civilisation. The Báb’s declaration sparked a paradigm shift, challenging us to outgrow old mindsets of domination, ego-driven success, and cutthroat competition. In their place, we are called to cultivate global awareness and an altruistic desire for universal welfare. Bahá’í writings remind us: ‘So powerful is the light of unity, it can illuminate the whole world.’
True worship is expressed through a lifestyle of prayer, meditation, personal wellness, and active service to humanity. Real, tangible global transformation is an architecture we build together, and it begins right in our own homes. As our everyday thoughts and habits become anchored in ethical living, darkness of hostility naturally yields to mutual support.
Let us celebrate the bright promise of a more spiritually attuned, unified humanity, ever hopeful for divine blessings that guide our shared journey.
