Major Kumbh roads to be ready by '270: NMC chief Manisha Khatri

NASHIK: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) commissioner Manisha Khatri on Thursday said all 28 major roads being developed in the city ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela will be done by the March 2027 deadline.Speaking to reporters from The Times of India and Maharashtra Times during her visit to the TOI office in Nashik, Khatri said 28 key roads spanning over 150 km were being upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 1,270 crore as part of the Kumbh infrastructure push.She said, “Around 40% of the high-traffic roads are being white-topped, covering stretches from the inner, middle and outer ring roads in the city, while the remaining roads are being asphalted along with necessary widening.”She added that the civic body had created utility ducts to accommodate multiple underground services. According to the civic chief, work on these utility ducts is almost complete, and restoration of stretches dug up for the process is currently underway.Khatri acknowledged challenges in making available construction materials but said efforts are on to ensure timely completion of all projects. She added that repair of existing roads across the city would be completed before the onset of the monsoon to minimise inconvenience to residents.
