Mumbai: Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu backed women’s reservation, growth-led welfare and a higher birth rate, arguing that India must tackle structural challenges together.Addressing the The Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence, he said reserving seats for women was the best route to stronger political participation and dismissed fears that delimitation would disadvantage southern states, saying any increase in seats would apply proportionately across India. On the economy, Naidu said welfare could not rest on borrowing and giveaways alone. Govts, he said, must first generate wealth through reforms, investment and business growth.Naidu also called for a rethink on population policy. The Andhra CM said India should now encourage families to have at least two children to preserve its demographic advantage.
