The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has issued an important public notice warning learners, and parents about the rising number of fake websites, mobile applications and social media accounts impersonating the institution. According to the notice, several unauthorised platforms have been copying the appearance and content of the official NIOS website with the intention to mislead users and gather personal information for fraudulent purposes.

Official information available only on the NIOS website

NIOS has clarified that all updates, announcements and study-related information are published exclusively on its official website: nios.ac.in. The institution has emphasised that it does not operate through any secondary websites, unofficial portals or privately run learning platforms.Stakeholders have been cautioned that engaging with such platforms, especially those requesting payments or personal details, could lead to misuse of sensitive information.

Fake websites and channels not affiliated with NIOS

NIOS has reiterated that these websites, YouTube channels, Instagram accounts, Telegram groups and mobile applications have no affiliation with NIOS. Any platform other than the official website displaying NIOS content must be treated with suspicion.The institute has urged students and parents to report such impersonating websites to sap@nios.ac.in. Warning against fraudulent activities

The organisation has advised all learners and parents to stay alert and avoid making any payments or sharing contact numbers, Aadhaar details or other personal data with unauthorised platforms. NIOS has also said that many of these channels falsely claim to assist with admissions, examinations, results and study support, which may lead to financial loss or identity misuse.

NIOS has appealed to remain cautious and rely solely on the official website for accurate and verified information. Anyone who notices misleading platforms impersonating NIOS is encouraged to report the matter immediately.
