PM Modi's strength not just in policy, but also in trust he builds: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

NEW DELHI: Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his memoir, ‘Apnapan’, on his 35-year-long association with Narendra Modi has said the PM’s strength is not confined merely to his policies and programmes, but is powered by the trust he generates in others.“I have often heard Modi say that he is also a karyakarta like one of them. He does not merely say it but lives it as well. This spirit of participation and humility is his real strength,” he says in the book. That is why Modi’s popularity and acceptance among the masses is as high today as it was in the early days of his premiership, Chouhan said.He recalled that as MP CM, during the investors summit in 2014, when he proceeded to leave the venue to see off the PM at airport as per protocol, Modi held his hand and asked him to remain there to continue discussions with delegates as it would benefit the state more. “The summit’s success and investor convenience were more important to him than personal recognition or protocol formalities.” Chouhan said his book traced a bond that began during the 1991 ‘Ekta Yatra’. tnn
