India should not become known for criminal gangs. It is important to stop young people from becoming criminals before it is too late

Jails are supposed to keep dangerous people from committing more crimes, but sometimes prisoners still find ways to break the rules. In the movie The Shawshank Redemption, a prisoner secretly digs a tunnel and escapes after many years. In real life, it is not surprising that some prisoners manage to get illegal mobile phones inside jail.

However, it is much more serious when a well-known gangster like Lawrence Bishnoi is able to communicate with people outside while being kept under strict security. If he can still give orders from jail, people will wonder how this is possible. It is even more worrying when other countries ask these questions before Indian officials do.

A recent international investigation called “Operation Hard Ball” led to the arrest of many people in the United States, Canada, and Europe who were linked to criminal gangs that started in India. Police are also searching for several more suspects. Investigators believe that Lawrence Bishnoi has continued to run a criminal network from prison. His group has been accused of crimes such as murder, extortion, drug smuggling, weapons trafficking, kidnapping, and human trafficking. Many of their victims are people of Indian origin living in other countries.

This is bad not only because of the crimes, but also because it can hurt India’s image around the world. Every country has criminals, but no country wants to be famous for them. Some countries are often linked with drug cartels, and it can be difficult to change that image. India should not be seen the same way.

It is good that Indian authorities worked with police from other countries during this investigation. Sharing information helps stop international crime. There may also be requests for Lawrence Bishnoi to face charges in another country, which will be an important decision for the Indian government.

India’s reputation is important, especially as it builds stronger relationships with other countries through trade and business. To protect that reputation, the country should take crime seriously from the very beginning. Small acts of bullying or violence should not be ignored because they can grow into bigger crimes later. Lawrence Bishnoi reportedly started as a local bully before becoming a powerful gangster.

India should show the world that it does not support or allow criminal gangs to grow. Strong law enforcement, safe prisons, and early action against crime can help make sure young people choose a better path.
